Brian Bevacqua has served as editor for numerous prestigious journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Anesthesia and Analgesia, British Medical Journal, Open Anesthesiology Journal (Editorial Board Member), Regional Anesthesia, Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, Federal Practitioner, Medical Economics, Indian Journal of Surgery, Indian journal of Anesthesiology, Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and Pain Practice.
Dr. Bevacqua graduated from both an Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown University and an Anesthesiology residency from the University of Vermont. He is Board-certified in both. In addition, Dr. Bevacqua served as Chief of Anesthesiology at two different Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, established Pain Management Programs at both the Medical Center and Veterans Integrated Services Networks levels, and is certified in Acupuncture for Physicians from the University of California in Los Angeles.
Dr. Bevacqua’s expertise in chronic and acute pain has allowed him to provide Consultant-level Periopertive Pain Management throughout his care in private practice and academic medicine. He is currently on faculty of University of Wisconsin School of Medcine and Public Health, and is actively engaged in helping to set up a Perioperative Surgical Home for the Madison VA Medical Center. His research interest and published work includes application of regional anesthesia for control of perioperative pain and attenuation of associated surgical stress response.
